Kenya Revenue Authority has been allowed by a Nairobi Court to forfeit and dispose of a consignment of contraband milk powder confiscated in Eastleigh.

Milimani Magistrates Court in Nairobi granted the state to forfeit and dispose of a recovered and seized consignment of assorted brands of uncustomed milk powder products.

The consignment to be forfeited comprises 250 tins of milk powder of 2.5kg each.

Other assorted milk to be forfeited include 74 tins of 800gms, 38 tins of 400gms of milk Powder, and 408 tins of 400gms of another milk powder brand.

According to the order, the forfeited assorted milk will be disposed of pursuant to section 215 and 217 (2)(a) of the East African Community Customs Management Act 2004.

The said consignment is believed to have emanated from a multi-agency team raid at a building in Eastleigh Estate situated at Starehe Sub-County within Nairobi county.

The raid took place on February 13, 2024, after a trader was arrested and arraigned for having in his possession contraband milk contrary to the Law.

Upon his arrest, he was arraigned in Court on February 14, 2024, and on April 17, 2024, pleaded guilty.

He was convicted on his own plea of guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of Sh235, 000.
