Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has met Mt Kenya security leaders in efforts to help eradicate the consumption of poisonous and toxic substances.
The CS visited Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kirinyaga.
He said the manufacture, sale, and consumption of illicit alcohol and narcotic drugs is a major national security threat.
The CS urged security managers to ensure strict enforcement of the policy and operational guidelines to eradicate the cases.
He added that a three-year transfer policy must apply to all police officers countrywide.
“All police officers who have served in one station for more than three years will be transferred to eliminate conflict of interest, guard against internal sabotage, and enhance service delivery in the security sector,” he said.
In addition, the CS, however, said that the government will unleash all the resources at its disposal to fight the war on narcotic drugs, substance abuse, and consumption of poisonous alcoholic drinks.
Kindiki said the government will deploy all the available resources to eradicate menace.
Security agencies were instructed to enforce the policy and operational guidelines issued by the government on eradication of illicit and drugs.
