    Chester Williams has died

    Former Springbok player Chester Williams has died, he was aged 49. Williams played as a winger for the Springboks from 1993 to 2000 and represented the Springboks in 27 games, scoring 14 tries.

    He was the first black player to represent the Springboks in the new South Africa and was a part of the 1995 World Cup-winning team.

    We take this moment to send our condolences to the family of Chester Williams.

    In Other News – Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya joins women’s Soccer

    TWO-TIME Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya has started a new journey after joining a women’s football club JVW in the Sasol League.

    Semenya is currently appealing against a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport which approved the IAAF’s introduction of a new testosterone limit for female athletes and will not defend her 800m title at the World Championships in Doha in September.

    The 28-year-old has started training with South African side JVW on Tuesday, but will not make her debut until next season starting in 2020 – with the transfer window currently closed.

    JVW, who is owned by South Africa women’s captain Janine van Wyk, announced the signing of Semenya on Thursday. read more
