In a move to enhance athlete protection and integrity in Kenya’s sports sector, Cabinet Secretary for Sports Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday emphasized the critical partnership between the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) and sports federations.
The collaboration aims to address issues such as doping, governance, and gender-based misconduct while creating a safe environment for all athletes, particularly women.
“I emphasised partnerships between the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) and sports federations to protect our athletes’ integrity and ensure compliance with international standards,” Murkomen said during a meeting with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) Bar Bench Committee.
This partnership is vital in ensuring that athletes compete fairly, and it underscores Kenya’s commitment to maintaining international sports standards.
The meeting also focused on amending the Sports Act to streamline dispute resolution and establish a regulatory framework that enhances fairness and accountability in the sports industry.

Murkomen further highlighted the importance of equipping sports federations with the legal and management skills necessary for effective governance and development.

Additionally, the discussions reinforced the ministry’s commitment to implementing policies that foster equality and eliminate harassment in sports.
