Police are investigating an incident in which a mother stabbed and wounded her daughter in a quarrel over a decision to drop out of school in Mbeere, Embu.
The 19-year-old girl is nursing a stabbing wound in the hospital after she was at the weekend stabbed and wounded in the pelvic.
Police said the mother of the girl is the suspect and is yet to be arrested.
The mother had picked up a quarrel with the girl over her decision to drop out of school.
This situation escalated and went physical prompting the mother to pick up a knife and stab the daughter, police said.
She was rushed to Kimbimbi Subcounty Hospital for medical attention.
Police said the suspect escaped from the scene immediately after the incident and efforts to trace her are underway.
Elsewhere, a man stabbed and killed his brother in a quarrel in a village in Kiamaciri, Kirinyaga.
Police officers rushed to the scene and established that a disagreement between 34-year-old Simon Macharia, now deceased, led to his brother stabbing him on the left side of the chest using a kitchen knife.
Police said that the incident resulted in a deep cut, causing the victim to bleed profusely and ultimately leading to their death.
The scene was processed, and the body was removed to Kibugi Funeral Home for preservation awaiting autopsy.
The case is pending investigation.
