Kenya High School teacher dies by suicide in Nairobi

A teacher at Kenya High School died by suicide on Wednesday.

The body of the teacher police identified as 32-year-old Douglas Mogaka was found dangling from a tank ladder.

The motive of the Wednesday incident is yet to be known, police said.

According to police, he hanged himself using a belt.

No suicide note was recovered, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Other teachers and students described him as a dedicated teacher.

Five more cases of suicide were reported in other parts of the country.

On Tuesday at about 8:00pm a man died by suicide by hanging himself with a rope tied to his neck in Nkubu Township, Meru County

The deceased police identified as 28-year-old Dominic Mutura was found dangling from the door frame with sisal rope tied around his neck inside his bedroom.

Nkubu Police station officers visited the scene, and a well-elaborated suicide note was recovered however the contents have not been shared.

The body was moved to Consolata Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Giachera Village, Nyeri County, a 39-year-old man identified as Solomon Warui was found dangling from a macadamia tree with a wire tied around his neck in his farm.

Preliminary investigations by Police officers established that the deceased had been suffering from mental illness.

No suicide note was recovered, Police said.

Police say the motive is still unknown.

The body was moved to Nyeri referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In Ndunyu Ngaria village, Nandi County, a man died by allegedly tossing himself into a dam on Tuesday.

Police officers identified the man as 27-year-old Laban Kimutai.

According to police, witnesses recount him walking towards a fenced dam and tossing himself into it until he completely submerged.

Mosoriot Police station officers visited the scene, and the deceased body was retrieved with the help of local divers.

The motive remains unknown, police said.

Police say no suicide note was recovered.

The body was moved to a Samaritan hospital mortuary in Kapsabet awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was found dangling from the roof rafters with a sisal rope tied around the neck inside his mother’s three-roomed house in Uvaini village, Machakos County.

Police officers visited the scene, and no suicide note was recovered.

The body was moved to Kathiani Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The case is pending investigation.
