A 75-year-old man died after he was allegedly assaulted by his neighbor using a walking stick in a confrontation in Kopsiro, Bungoma County.
Police said Hudson Cheboit was allegedly hit on the head with a walking stick and rushed to Bungoma County Referral Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
The incident happened on Wednesday, August 13, police said.
The suspect was arrested pending arraignment, police said adding the body is lying at a local mortuary.
The two had allegedly disagreed over land in the area.
In Kimilili, one Isaac Wanyonyi, a casual labourer was allegedly assaulted by an employee of a hotel following a disagreement and succumbed to the injuries in hospital.
Police said the incident happened at a hotel in Kimilili Township.
The victim was rushed to the Kimilili Subcounty Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The police visited the facility and found the victim had suffered burn injuries on his back.
The scene was processed, and the body was taken to Kimilili Subcounty Hospital for a postmortem examination and pending the arrest of the suspect. The case is pending investigation.
Elsewhere, a man was shot and wounded during a confrontation between two groups at a meeting that turned chaotic in Hola, Tana River County.
The two groups living in Zubaki Location held a peace meeting at the Mahono Sublocation, which later turned chaotic.
This area is under serious contest between the two communities.
The two communities disagreed over the agenda and the meeting turned chaotic prompting two Kenya Police Reservists who were armed with Mark 4 rifles to fire into the air in the Tuesday evening incident.
In the process, one of those present was shot in both legs. He was rushed to ljara Subcounty Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
Police officers visited the scene, disarmed the two, and kept the weapons as an exhibit.
Police said they recovered three spent cartridges at the scene.
A team is investigating the incident. There are also efforts to solve the dispute that led to the shooting.
