Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has reshuffled his chief officers in a move aimed at improving service delivery.
The changes that were implemented on Monday, affect various critical departments, with some officers being reassigned to new roles, while others retain their capacity as some get promotions.
According to a document seen by the publication and signed by the Acting County Secretary Hesbon Hongo, the governor made the changes in line with Section 45(5) of the County Governments Act 2012 effective immediately.
Some of the notable changes include the transfer of Paul Waweru who moved from his position as the chief officer of finance to Acting chief officer of Kisumu Lake Front Development Corporation.
Trade, Corporative and Tourism Chief Officer Bovince Ochieng has been reassigned to the Education Technical Training, Innovation and Social Services while his Agriculture and Livestock counterpart Erick Omondi has been taken to the Water Environment, Natural Resources and Climate change docket.
Francis Asuna previously in charge of Water, Environment Natural Resources, and Climate change will oversee the Sports Culture Gender and Youths Department, while his Energy, Trasport, Roads and Public Works Daniel Otieno has been moved to Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock Development, Fisheries and Blue Economy.
Timothy Nyakwamb Kajwang has been moved from the Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs dockets to the Trade, Cooperative, Tourism Industry and Marketing while Fredrick Mula moved to the Energy Trasport, Roads and Public Works department from his initial Education docket.
Officers who have retained their dockets include Ojwang Lusi, Health, Victor Ndereva Lands, and Wilson Abiero, Economic Planning.
John Oywa, who heads the Communication and Public Affairs, will also continue in his role while acting as Chief Officer of Public Service, County admin, and Participatory Development.
Benter Omollo, who was previously in the Public Service department, has been taken to the Finance docket as the acting chief officer.
“The reshuffling takes effect immediately with handing over to the newly appointed and retained officers expected to be concluded by close of Business on August 14 2024,” read the statement.
