Social media influencer Francis Gaitho has said he will present himself to the DCI Headquarters at Mazingira House.
In an X statement on Wednesday, Gaitho said he will be there at 2pm.
“I will be presenting myself at DCI Headquarters, Mazingira House Kiambu Road at 2pm today. Thank you all for your concern,” he said.
Replying to a statement by the National Police Service, he said he is in touch with his legal counsel on how to proceed.
This comes shortly after the police admitted to having arrested veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho, who shares a name with the X influencer, mistakenly.
“The National Police Service would like to clarify to the public that this morning, we arrested journalist Macharia Gaitho in a case of mistaken identity, meant for the arrest of Francis Gaitho who is our subject of investigation,” police said.
On Monday, the Director of Criminal Investigations Amin Mohamed had called out Francis Gaitho for discrediting their investigations into the Kware dump site murders.
The social media influencer had alleged that the DCI issued a misleading statement and that they had gotten the name of the prime suspect wrong.
He would later on share names, images, and descriptions of a person identified as Jairus Onkundi claiming he was the suspect.
Onkundi would later file a complaint with the DCI for clearance over the ongoing investigations.
