Kipsigis elders and scores of Members of the county assembly on Wednesday reinstated a wheelbarrow vandalized by Gen-Z supporters last week.

In their hundreds, the elders and local youth disowned the demos that saw the Wheelbarrow vandalized.

“President William Ruto is the president of the Republic of Kenya and has no bad intentions when he pushes for the Financial bill” Chaik ward MCA Mathew Korir told those who turned to watch the reinstatement of the vandalized wheelbarrow.

Speakers in the gathering said the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) and the president “are here to stay.

“The Wheelbarrow party and the UDA symbol are political slogans that installed Kenya Kwanza government. We cannot allow a few elements to try to dismantle it,” MCA Korir said.

He said it’s a taboo in Kipsigis culture for youth to destroy what the president had initiated.

Supporters of Gen-Zs in Kericho who participated in the initial anti-financial bill 2024 have since backed the president and his call for dialogue.

The support for the president and the UDA party was witnessed by the youth’s failure to participate in Tuesday’s demos in Kericho town.

Kericho the youth said they are not a party to any demos that are out to ridicule the institution of the presidency and UDA party in Kericho.

Moments after the wheelbarrow was hoisted, elders sprinkled milk around the mast that held it at a ceremony conducted near a petrol station.

Thereafter the crowd snaked towards Moi Gardens for more meetings, paralyzing motor vehicle flow along the busy Kericho-Kisumu-Nakuru highway.
