At least three people were reported to have been shot and injured by a private citizen during the anti-finance bill protest in Mombasa.
Several people and police have confirmed to the Star that a person opened fire at close range at the demonstrators.
He is said to have been ‘angered’ by the protestors who had brought business to a standstill along Nyerere Road.
The three injured have been rushed to the hospital.
After the shooting incident, several vehicles were torched.
Qafeee Point Restaurant was also vandalized.
Firefighters have managed to put off the fire.
Protestors are now baying for the blood of the alleged shooter, who retreated into the Qafee Point Building.
