Former United Democratic Alliance chairperson Johnson Muthama has said the Kenya Kwanza administration is “too young to have conspicuous cracks.”
Muthama, who is the former senator for Machakos, urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to avoid talking at each other and instead embrace one another to solve differences.
“..in case there are some teething issues, let us use our internal mechanisms to iron them without exposing ourselves the way it has happened recently,” he said in a statement.
Muthama said Kenya Kwanza leaders should focus on implementing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
According to Muthama, UDA was founded on a strong political foundation which was devoid of political deceit.
On Wednesday, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala called out Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria (Public Service) and Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport) for engaging in politics.
Malala said holders of their offices must remain apolitical by law, and they must strive to ensure that.
“It has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical,” he said.
Malala who spoke after his return to the country from China said that he has been deeply concerned with the way leaders from within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have been conducting themselves.
He noted that they have shown disrespect to the leadership of the ruling party.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi immediately hit back at Malala following his warning.
Just minutes after Malala released the presser, Sudi issued a veiled remark on the statement through his X account.
While singling out the leaders who included Sudi, Malala termed their recent conduct as not only undermining the party’s unity but also disrespects the leadership that they pledged to serve.
“Let this be a stern warning, desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the party will take disciplinary actions against you,” he said.
