We'll complete Kelvin Kiptum's house by Thursday

A new house being put up for World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum is almost complete ahead of his burial on Friday.

President William Ruto ordered the construction of the house at Kiptum’s farm located at Naiberi in Uasin Gishu county.

Engineers and workers have camped at the site to complete the new home before Thursday when the body will be removed from the Eldoret Hospital morgue.

“We are on schedule and will complete the house by Thursday,” said one of the engineers at the site.

At the same time, a team of homicide officers from DCI HQ have arrived in Eldoret to step up the probe into the accident that caused the death of World Marathon record holder.

The team is visiting all the areas where Kiptum was last seen before the accident that claimed his life and that of his coach.

Elgeyo Marakwet county police commander Peter Mulinge said the investigations were going on well.

“We are going on with the investigations as required,” Mulinge said.

Sources in the investigations team said they are reconstructing Kiptum’s last movements before the accident.

The homicide officers were also expected to visit the scene of the accident near Flax on the Eldoret-Ravine Road.

They will also inspect the accident car which was towed to Kaptagat police station.
