KwaZulu-Natal: At 16H45 Tuesday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the corners of North Coast Road and Moreland Drive in Redhill Durban.

Reports indicate that the driver of a bakkie lost control,  slamming into a SUV then into a pedestrian.

The bakkie then came to rest on top of a wall at a motor dealership.

On scene was the Durban Metropolitan Police, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services, SAPS and Emer-G-Med as well as other private ems services.

An adult female driver from the SUV had sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to the hospital.

Medics assessed the scene and found that the pedestrian who had sustained fatal injuries was trapped between the wall and the bottom of the bakkie.

The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services had to use hydraulic tools to lift the vehicle to free the deceased.

Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
