Kenneth Lusaka pledges support for Richard Ngatia as KNCCI election nears

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has joined other top leaders in endorsing KNCCI boss Richard Ngatia for reelection.

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold its elections on June 8 with Ngatia seeking to retain his seat as the chamber’s president.

He is seeking office together with businessman Abdulwalli Shariff Ahmed as his running mate.

The duo on Saturday took their campaigns to Bungoma where they paid a courtesy call on Governor Lusaka who also endorsed Ngatia’s reelection.

Ngatia said the meeting was fruitful with an emphasis on collaboration to foster the development of the county.

“The governor has pledged to prioritize pending bills and has offered land for KNCCI partners to build an industrial park in Bungoma,” Ngatia said.

He said the governor also offered office space for KNCCI at the County Block to ensure chamber members receive first-class service.

“As the chamber president, my sincere gratitude to the governor for his compliments that our team Volcano is the winning team,” Ngatia said.

Ngatia is appreciative of the governor’s support and blessings which will enable them to work more efficiently towards the betterment of the business community in Bungoma county.

“I am confident that this collaboration will yield positive results as we continue working together to create a conducive business environment,” Ngatia said.

Lusaka’s endorsement followed another on Thursday by Vihiga Governor Wilber Otichillo who has also thrown his weight behind Ngatia’s team.

Ngatia will contest against the chamber’s vice president Eric Rutto.

The current chambers boss has received backing from key leaders in areas like the Lake Region, Western, South Rift, Mount Kenya, Lower Eastern and the Nairobi Metropolis.

During the last KNCCI elections in 2019, Ngatia made history as the first national chamber boss to assume office unopposed.
