ODM’s Edwin Sifuna: I wont vie for Bungoma seat

Orange party secretary-general Edwin Sifuna has said he will not run for any political seat in Bungoma during next year’s elections.

Sifuna, who unsuccessfully vied for the Nairobi senatorial race in 2017, was defeated by Jubilee’s Johnson Sakaja.

Prior to running for the senatorial seat, he had also been defeated in the Kanduyi constituency ODM primaries by lawyer John Makali who eventually lost during the General Election to the then Ford Kenya candidate Wafula Wamunyinyi.

Sifuna said, “You people have used your resources campaigning for me to go for gubernatorial, senatorial or even Kanduyi parliamentary seat but it is unfortunate that I won’t vie for any elective seat in Bungoma in 2022.”

There had been reports Sifuna was to face off with Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.

Addressing Bungoma county ODM party delegates at his Siaka village home, Sifuna said, “I won’t go for any elective seat in this country, I want to redirect my energy to ensure my party boss Raila Odinga wins the presidency in 2022.”

During the event, Sifuna officially received about 100 defectors from other parties who joined ODM and will vie for various seats in 2022.
