Police in Garissa have arrested suspected militants and recovered four firearms among them three AK-47 and 203 rounds of ammunition following a sting operation conducted Friday night.
Garissa County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich while confirming the incident cleared the air that the operations was not targeting any clan, group of people or any family and that will be conducted without any discrimination.
He said security operations will be conducted within the county to root out all militia groups who are terrorizing people and urged the citizens to cooperate.
Meanwhile, police in Kericho County have gunned down three robbery with violence suspects and arrested two others after a dramatic car chase.
Kericho County Criminal Investigations Officer John Onyango said they received a tip off after a robbery and hijacking incident that had taken place at Duka Moja area of Brooke police station.
The criminals believed to be armed and dangerous attempted to escape using a saloon car with police hot on their heels but in the Kapsuser area along Kericho-Sotik road, the getaway vehicle veered off the road giving police officers the advantage. A shoot out ensued leading to the death of three while two were apprehended.
