Ben Affleck protects Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck has quickly stepped in after an aggressive fan tried to take a photo with Jennifer Lopez. In photos obtained by multiple publications, the 49-year-old actor jumped to protect the Hustlers star, 52, putting his hand on the man’s chest and pushing him away at the Venice airport — the couple were departing the city following the Venice International Film Festival over the weekend. Affleck’s security team also stepped in to distance the actor and the man.

The airport encounter occurred one day after the actor and Lopez made their official red carpet return at the 2021 Venice Film Festival for the premiere of Affleck’s film The Last Duel. The premiere marked the pair’s first major red carpet together in over 15 years — with their last being at the premiere of Gigli in July 2003.

There were plenty of kisses and hugs for the cameras after a whirlwind year of love for the two, who rekindled their romance in April following the songstress’ split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez.

Affleck and Lopez originally began dating in July 2002 before getting engaged that November. But just days before their September 2003 wedding, they agreed to postpone the big day due to the intensive media coverage. They eventually called off their engagement and relationship altogether in January 2004.
