Two brothers have denied abducting and robbing a businessman of Sh950,000.

Ezekiel Muia Mutuku and Augustine Kioko Mutuku were charged in a Makadara court with violently robbing Dishon Njiru on May 28 this year, jointly with others at large.

They denied the charges before principal resident magistrate Eunice Suter.

The two pleaded for lenient bail and bond terms, saying they have young families back home in Matuu, Machakos county, who are fully dependent on them.

They were each released on Sh500,000 bond. The hearing of the case is scheduled to begin on December 16.

Njiru was allegedly accosted by four men armed with a pistol outside the Panari Hotel after he withdrew cash at Equity Bank’s Mombasa Road branch. He was bundled into a car and driven away.

The suspects used a hired car in the alleged robbery. Njiru was tortured and robbed of the cash before he was abandoned in Mihang’o off Kangundo road hours later.
