A 17-year-old Kisii High School student who allegedly stabbed two teachers has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges.
The minor who looked remorseful, was produced before Kisii Law Court’s Senior Resident Magistrate Stephen Njoro to answer to the charges on Wednesday, January 13.
The Office of Directorate of Public Prosecution led by Counsel Hillary Kaino told the court that the state had preferred two counts of attempted murder against the suspect.
However, the juvenile student maintained he was an innocent man and went on to request the court to release him on bond so that he could continue with his studies.
The magistrate granted the accused his wish releasing him on cash bail of KSh 50,000 or a bond of KSh 100,000.

In the event that the teenager fails to meet the cash bail terms or raise the required amount, he will be detained at Manga Juvenile Center pending mention and pre-trial on January 27.
The Form Three student allegedly stabbed two teachers who had summoned him for punishment after he reported late to school.
Edwin Mokaya, the first victim was reported to have sustained deep stab wounds on his forehead when the student who did not want to be punished attacked him with a knife.
The second teacher, Elvis Maoto, suffered injuries in the wrist when he tried to prevent the student from attacking Mokaya.
The two were rushed to Ram Hospital in Kisii where they are receiving treatment while the Form Three student was arrested.
“We are currently doing a primary assessment on the injuries as we start treatment,” Ram Hospital administrator Enock Abobo told journalists.
