Accident kills 4 in Timboroa

Four people were on Saturday, October 31, killed in a road accident at Kahoya area in Timboroa, Baringo County.

Confirming the incident, Eldama Ravine OCPD Maxwell Agoro stated that the deceased were yet to be identified.

The accident occurred at 6 am and involved two vehicles, a Prado and Probox, which were both heading to Nakuru from Eldoret.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the Prado vehicle was attempting to overtake other vehicles, he veered back into his lane when lorries approached from the opposite direction.

Those at the scene blamed speeding and driver error for the accident.

It is then that, the driver hit the Probox causing it to crash. The causalities were reported to be occupants of the Probox.

Their bodies were taken to Eldama Ravine sub-county hospital morgue by police.

Occupants of the Prado sustained injuries from the accident and were taken to Timboroa Health Centre for treatment.

In August 2020, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) raised an alarm over increased road fatalities especially with pedestrians being the biggest casualties.

According to a report released by NTSA, 2,689 persons had lost their lives between January 1 and September 30, 2020, compared to the same period last year where 2,655 lives were lost.

The authority further indicated that accidents had been costing the state a loss amounting to Ksh300 billion every year.
