Students of Mikeu Primary School in Dundori Centre, Nakuru County, are counting their blessings after escaping unhurt when a trailer carrying a grader rammed into their school.
A government official who was in the area said that the speeding trailer knocked down the school’s fence before damaging the wall of the classroom.
He further noted that the accident was caused by a brake failure but no one was hurt in the incident.
“He knocked down the wall, drove through the playing ground and it hit the classroom,” he stated.
Students were not inside the classroom at the time of the accident and the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.
The heavily loaded trailer was transporting a grader used in a road construction project.
Dundori Centre is a market town located on the foot of Dundori Forest. Its position, surrounded by steep roads often used by trailers has made it a notorious blackspot.
The truck, which was transporting logs, veered off the road and crushed into vehicles parked on the roadside at Dundori Trading Centre.
Nakuru North OCPD Jacinta Mwarania confirmed to the press that the deceased were traders at the market.
