Her life may have changed online real quick – from only 10,000 followers to the current 876k – but at her Nairobi home, she is still living life as normal. Many may have expected that since Elsa Majimbo landed a deal to work with Rihanna or she was nominated for an award alongside Kim Kardashian, her life would change overnight.

That’s not exactly the reality. In a British Vogue feature, the 19-year-old star opens up about her journey to fame, her beauty regimen, and ultimately, the reason why she loves making people laugh.

“I expect some kind of status in this house now, but they expect me to cook and clean. I still wash dishes,” she revealed. Majimbo admits that her younger brother, 16, does not find her funny at all.

Elsa MajimboIf you get her videos – her comedy is for the rich, no offense – she is a go-getter. She never stops creating new content and making people laugh. That is why many celebrities from around the world follow her. In her comments section, you will notice blue badges – verified accounts – commenting endlessly.

It all started when she realized that she cannot fit in. While growing up, Majimbo found everyone around her trying to fake it in order to impress everyone. Since she couldn’t just do it, she chose to be herself…and with that, the chip-eating comedian found herself lonely, with not-so-many friends.

“I didn’t have a lot of friends so I picked up my camera one day and started talking into it, and it just felt so amazing and natural and raw,” she admitted.

Announcing her Vogue feature – which she always wished for – the comedian took to Instagram and posted a screenshot of the headline. Naturally, she got loads of compliments and support.

“I don’t know what to say other than I have beauty profile on @britishvogue ! This is much more than a beauty profile, this is about what true beauty is, and it starts with self love,” she said.

This isn’t the first time the star has appeared on mainstream media. Previously, she has graced CNN, E!, and the New York Times.
