Kenya records 83 new Covid-19 cases as total rises to 35,103

Kenya on Sunday recorded 83 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 35,103.

This was from a sample of 3,093 was tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 474,477.

A statement by the Ministry of Health confirmed that six of the new cases were foreigners while 77 were Kenyans.

Age-wise, the youngest was a one-year-old baby, while the oldest was 85. A total of 58 of the cases were males and 25 were females.

Covid-19 in KenyaNairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 27 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Busia 15, Kisumu 12, Nakuru 7, Machakoss 7, Kiambu 5, Laikipia 3, Kisii 3, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Mombasa and Uasin Gishu had 1 case each.

Another 72 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 21,230.

A total of 39 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 33 were discharged from various health facilities.

Number of fatalities rose to 597 after three more patients succumbed to the virus.

Court orders mental assessment for Chris Obure, Robert Ouko in Kevin Omwenga murder trial

Businessman Chris Obure and his bodyguard Robert Bodo Ouko were on Friday detained for two more days over the shooting and subsequent killing of Kevin Omwenga.

Justice James Wakiaga, in his Friday ruling, directed that the two suspects be taken for mental assessment at the Mathare Mental Hospital in Nairobi during this period.

Robert bodoJustice Wakiaga stated that the duo will then be arraigned to face murder charges on Monday next week. Learn more……………
