Controversial church leader Prophet Bushiri has come out denying the [email protected] allegations levelled against him. The pastor says these are just ploys aimed at extorting him. Bushiri hit back after an etv news exclusive this week where they interviewed two women, former congregants of his Enlightened Christian Gathering church who claim that they were [email protected] by the pastor.
The Malawian church leader stated that he had been dealing with extortion for the past three years. He claimed an officer at the Hawks had been intimidating women and children to come up with false [email protected] allegations against him and other respected members of his church.
Etv has verified with the police that they are indeed investigating rape charges. Bushiri is currently out on bail of R100 000, he is already facing fraud and money laundering charges.
The pastor says he is the victim of an unlawful investigation driven by extortion and blackmail. The Malawian preacher has accused law enforcement officials of corruption. He also took aim at civic organisation SANCO accusing one of its members of extortion. SANCO denies this and is seeking legal advise on the matter.
