Covid-19 cases in Kenya rise to 32,803, death toll now at 559

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 246 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 32,803 , Health CAS Rashid Aman confirmed.

This was after a sample of 4,149 was tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative tests to 429,513.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing, Aman said age wise, the youngest was a two-year-old infant while the oldest was 77 years old.

Another 160 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 19,055.

Dr Rashid AmanA total of 124 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 34 were discharged from various health facilities.

However, five more patients succumbed to the virus, raising fatalities to 559.

In terms of counties, the cases were distributed in; Nairobi 75, Kiambu 28, Kisumu 18, Machakos 16, Garissa 13, Lamu 10, Migori 9, Turkana 9, Uasin Gishu 8 Mombasa 7, Taita Taveta 7, Nyeri 6, Kilifi 5, Murang’a 4, Laikipia 4, Kitui 4, Kajiado 3, Kwale 3, Makueni, Embu, Nakuru, Nandi and Baringo 2 cases each while Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Nyamira, Tana River, Isiolo and Tharaka Nithi had one case each.

The 75 cases in Nairobi were spread out in; Kasarani 8, Embakasi South, Makadara and Westlands 7 cases each while Embakasi East and Kamukunji had 6 cases each, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi West, Kibra and Langata all had 4 cases each, Mathare and Ruaraka 3 cases each while while Embakasi North, Roysambu, Starehe and Embakasi Central had 2 cases each.

In Kiambu, the 28 cases were from, Thika 15, Kiambu Town 6, Kikuyu and Limuru 9 cases each, while Githunguri, Kabete and Kiambaa had 1 case each.

The 18 cases in Kisumu were from Kisumu West 8, Kisumu Central 7 and Muhoroni 3.
