Kenya’s Coronavirus cases rise to 225 as 9 confirmed positive

The number of Coronavirus cases in Kenya has risen to 225 after nine people were confirmed positive Wednesday afternoon.

The country has also registered one death from the deadly virus adding the tally to those who succumbed to coronavirus to 10.

At the same time, the Health Ministry has also discharged 12 patients raising the number of recoveries from the virus to 53.

Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe said that all the positive cases were Kenyan.

The five cases were reported in Nairobi and four in Mombasa aged between 9 to 69 years who had no history of travel and were not in the designated quarantine centre.

“These are people we have tracked through contact tracing and also testing people who have come to us because they are feeling unwell,” said CS Kagwe.

The nine cases confirmed by the Health Ministry were discovered after it conducted tests from 800 samples in the last 24 hours.

A total of 2336 contacts have been monitored out of which 1911 have been discharged and another 455 are currently been followed.

In terms of counties, Nairobi County leads with 163 cases, followed by Mombasa with 36, Kilifi 9, Mandera 6, Kajiado 2, Nakuru 2, Siaya 2, Kakamega 1, Kwale 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.

In terms of local and importation of Covid-19 disease, Nairobi County registered 120 importation transmission cases with 43 locally transmitted.

In Other News – Coronavirus cases hit 216 as 8 more test positive

The number of Coronavirus cases has hit 216 as eight more cases test positive for the disease.

Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said five of the new patients are Kenyans while three are foreign nationals.

Who Is Immune to the Coronavirus

Out of the eight cases, six have a history of travel from UAE, UK, Pakistan, Zambia and Comoros. We have six cases from Nairobi county, Siaya and Nakuru one each. continue reading
